Do-It-Yourself: Ombre Nails

Answer Questions
Hi guys! So I'm back for another nail tutorial! I'm gonna introduce to you guys 'ombre nails'! So the simple meaning of ombre is when the color gets darker or lighter. It's the 'it' thing nowadays.

There are many ways of using this design. Whether it be lighter to darker from nail to nail or within each nail.

For this tutorial I'm gonna be doing the ombre effect from nail to nail. Shall we start?

Things you need:

  • Nail polish remover
  • Cotton pads/balls and cotton swabs
  • Nail file
  • Any clear nail polish
  • Any black nail polish with a thin tip
  • If you don't have that kind of nail polish you can use a toothpick or safety pin
  • Pick 2 to 5 different colours for your ombre

Nail Polish I used: L-R
  • OPI Pink-Ing Of You
  • OPI Chapel Of Love
  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish PRO Posh Pink
  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish PRO Hot Cocoa
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Rose-A-Go-Go

STEP 1:

Remove any dirt / old nail polish.

STEP 2:

Shape your nails to your desired length and shape.

Step 3:

Now paint your nails! Don't forget to make it dark to light/ light to dark or however you want to make it.

Step 4: Optional

For more design, you can paint a thin line for a french tip effect.

Step 5:

Apply a top coat for the design to last longer. I applied two coats.

Step 6:

And of course, clean the imperfections! Put a bit of nail polish remover on a cotton swab.

And we're done!

Here's another idea. I only used three nail polishes for this one. Darkest one on my thumb, medium on my index and middle finger and the lightest one on my ring and pinky finger. Lastly, I added a triangle shape french tip in black polish.

You can sport this design on all seasons! We hope that we gave you an idea to make use of all your nail polish. Haha! Be creative and stay tune for more "Do-It-Yourself" posts!

Hey there! I'm sorry if you didn't find what you were looking for on this tutorial (since the picture we took inspiration from clearly showed all nails having different colors), but CHAY did another nail tutorial that has the effect that you're looking for:
